Today was my daughters first official school play. She was an Angel in the story of Christmas in the advent service.
The children where adorable, however the parents not so much!
There are five different types of personalities at the Christmas Show
1. The teacher pet parent: This is the parent that has to have their child be the star of the show. They spend extra time in the classroom right around the program time in hopes that their child will the better part
2. The laid back parent: The parent that arrives right on time, and is there just to support their child. They do not fight, They just enjoy the show.
3. The aggressor: The parent who fights with other parents, who gets irritated at the crying babies in the background. They forget the reason why we are at the Christmas play....The Children.
4. The perfectionist: This is the mother who is constantly fixing their child's hair, outfit, shoes. Then to top it off, this mother also stands in everyone elses way to make sure she gets the right angle of the camera. It doesn't matter how many times you say excuse me, she continues to stand in your way.
Finally,
5. The seat saver. There are the parents who get there so early and block of 3-4 rows for their family. They make sure that they have the best seats in the house and they don't care how many people are trying to watch their child, they only believe that their family has the perfect seats.
I am not saying the best seats shouldn't go to the people who get their first, but they should also realize that their family should all be together before saving so many seats.
However, at the end of the day, the Children and Christmas are what is important. So put the bickering behind, and Enjoy the show!
